How to Use the Digital Dropbox in Blackboard

The "Digital Dropbox" feature in Blackboard is used to store and submit assignment files. Depending on your instructor you may be required to use the digital dropbox. The feature can be confusing and many students wind up missing an assignment submission deadline due to improper use of the digital dropbox.

Instructions

    • 1

Access your class' Blackboard website by clicking on the class name in the class list displayed on the main Blackboard "Welcome" page.

    • 2

Navigate to the "Course Tools" page by clicking on the "Tools" link in the course menu on the class welcome screen.

    • 3

Choose the "Digital Dropbox" from the list of available course tools.

    • 4

Click the "Add file" button to store an assignment in your personal digital dropbox. This will only store the assignment. It will not send the assignment to the instructor for grading.

    • 5

Use the "Send file" button to submit an assignment for grading. You may either send a file that has been stored to your personal digital dropbox or a file that is stored on your computer.

    • 6

Enter any comments you want the instructor to see prior to grading your assignment before you click the "Submit" button.

    • 7

Review the file status in your personal digital dropbox. A file that is listed as "Submitted" has been sent to your instructor. A file that is listed as "Posted" has merely been stored in your personal digital dropbox.
