Choose an objective for your home study course work. If your goal is to obtain a degree, then you must take accredited courses that fit the curriculum of a college degree program. If you only want to learn more about web design, then any school or tutorial may have something to offer.
Find an online degree program that will accommodate your goal. Some accredited colleges that offer online courses for associate's and bachelor's degrees in web design include University of Phoenix, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division and The International Academy of Design and Technology. Find online schools and tutorials to learn web design without earning college credits. A lot of basic information is available for free. Check the tutorials and courses at E-learning Center and the generically named Online Web Design Course. Links to these tutorials are included in the Resources section.
Check the system requirements for web design courses before enrolling. Your computer may need a particular operating system and minimum amount of RAM and hard drive space to perform assigned functions. Make an inquiry if system specifications are not posted.
Schedule the time necessary for courses. Most lectures will be recorded for play at your convenience. Each hour of classroom training precipitates an additional three hours of study and practice. Taking three classes at a time is considered a full course load.
Enroll in all online courses necessary to reach your goal of learning, or earning a degree in, web design. Gather all suggested reading materials and follow the practice steps for individual web design elements in the order they're assigned.
