Online Universities Offering Child Development Degrees

For students who have decided an online university is the best route for them, there are several options for obtaining a degree in child development. Online universities across the United States have options for bachelor's and master's degrees in this field. A child development degree is often related to an early childhood education degree, and can be a specialization as well.
  1. Walden University

    • Walden University, an accredited online institution, offers a Bachelor's of Science degree in Child Development. This degree will help the graduate better understand child development, and factors that play into a child's development. There are several concentrations a student can choose from, including infant/toddler, preschool or a dual concentration of both. This is a four-year program that is also open to transfer students.

    Ashford University

    • Ashford University offers a Master's of Art in Education degree with a specialization in Child Development. This specialization allows the student to direct the degree to children of all ages. It allows the student to examine appropriate methods for teaching, given the developmental age and status of the child. This also helps the student customize general instruction for different learners. As of October 2010, the Child Development specialization is 12 credits.

    West Governors University

    • West Governors University offers a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education which covers the aspects of a child development degree while licensing a teacher at the same time. This program teaches the student about education techniques from newborn children through children in the third grade. The program is built in alignment with the National Association for the Education of Young Children. It is 120 credits, as of October 2010.
