California Home Study Law Courses

There are a variety of California universities and law schools that offer at-home courses and online degrees. Most of these colleges provide each student with a virtual classroom so that they can receive the same education that they would at a prestigious university. This is particularly convenient for individuals who cannot attend a resident law school due to work, family or the expense of tuition.
  1. California School of Law

    • The home base for the California School of Law is Santa Monica, California, but this particular school allows students to attend classes from across the United States. Virtual classes meet every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, where students and professors discuss and debate the law, take exams, submit essays and even complete group studies. Just like a traditional onsite law school, the California School of Law requires that students keep a GPA of 2.0 or above to be accepted into the program. Financial aid is also available for qualifying students.

    Northwestern California University

    • Northwestern California University School of Law is one of the oldest degree-granting online law schools in the country, offering distance education for students who are seeking to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Law or a Juris Doctor Degree. The university also offers a certificate program for students who are interested in becoming a paralegal. Students who plan on entering the BS in Law program as well as the Juris Doctor program are required to have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and a CLEP test approved by the California Committee of Bar Examiners.

    West Coast School of Law

    • The West Coast School of Law is a law school that provides the same education for potential law students as an onsite university. Students will be provided with the same course books that are used at traditional colleges, but will be able to complete the work at their own pace. This online law school's tuition starts out at just $1,500 per year (as of January 2011) for the Bar Study and Non-Bar Study. This school of law is dedicated to assisting students prepare for a career in law.

    California Southern University

    • California Southern University offers quality distance learning in the fields of Psychology, Business and Law. Students can choose to obtain an Associates, Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate or Juris Doctorate degree in a variety of legal studies. Programs include paralegal studies, criminal justice, and a Master of Science in Law. Financial aid is available for qualifying students. The university also accepts transferred credits from a previously attended college.
