How to Create a Plan for Online Learning Success

Taking on-line classes can be a challenge. You likely never will meet the teacher or fellow students. Asking a question is not as simple as raising your hand in class; fellow students will not be around to remind you of an upcoming exam; and study groups will probably be minimal. Therefore, organization and self-motivation are a must. Create a plan for on-line learning to help you succeed.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down your goals. Whether you want to achieve an A in a single on-line course, or want to attain a Master's degree, writing down goals will keep you motivated. Keep these goals in a visible place to maintain motivation.

    • 2

List all of required tasks in the order of their importance. Assignments that are due first should be listed on the top of the list and studying for the final exam should be listed last.

    • 3

Make a schedule. One of the biggest challenges to learning on-line is organization. Write down on a calendar a reasonable schedule. Set aside time for studying, completing assignments, and reviewing any on-line material. This will help to avoid feeling overwhelmed with so much work and also prevent procrastination in completing assignments.

    • 4

Create a suitable learning environment. Whether finding a spot in the library or create a noiseless and distraction-free zone in your home, having an area conducive to learning can make a difference in how well you study.
