Deakin University offers a range of distance learning programs to both Australian and foreign students. Courses include both undergraduate and graduate studies. In some cases, the student must complete some course material and/or examinations on campus. According to the Deakin University website, 40% of its students now study online.
Established in 1974 in Geelong, Victoria, Deakin University now has four campuses in the province of Victoria and the university continues to expand. In 2008, Kevin Rudd, the Prime Minister of Australia, formally opened Deakin University Medical School.

Central Queensland University is a privately owned university with small campuses located throughout the western provinces of Australia. The university offers fully accredited degrees in a number of disciplines and has a full range of distance learning programs for both Australian and overseas students.
Central Queensland University (CQ) may appeal to students who have not passed the entry requirements of other universities. Aside from the standard university entrance requirements based on high school graduation results, CQ allows prospective students the opportunity to petition for enrollment based on prior experience.

Open Universities Australia (OUA) is a privately owned distance learning program. There are no formal entry requirements for OUA and students can achieve accredited undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in many liberal arts disciplines.
Students at OUA take courses from a variety of universities throughout Australia. These include some, such as MacQuarie University and Monash University, that rank among the top 200 universities in the world, according to the Times (U.K.) Higher Education ranking for 2009.
