Online Accredited Nursing Degrees

Online nursing degree programs are increasingly prevalent. With the high demand for nurses, the job market for the field of nursing is expected to grow by 22 percent through 2018 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.     • The University of Alabama at Birmingham offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral level degrees in nursing. The program offers over 200 different courses in an online format, making it possible for students to pursue most of their degree requirements through distance education courses. Areas of emphasis within the program include neonatal nursing, psychiatric and mental health nursing, adult practitioner, gerontology, women's health and family practitioner.

    • Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been offering online nursing courses since 1997. Drexel offers both bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing in an online format. A number of nursing certificates are also available. The bachelor's degree programs include a program for registered nurses who wish to complete their Bachelor of Science in nursing degree, and a bachelor's degree in health services administration. Multiple master's of science degrees are also offered in various emphases: acute care practitioner, innovation and entrepreneurship in advanced nursing practice, nursing education, nursing leadership in health care management, clinical research, women's health practitioner and others.
