Is virtual university in world ranking universities?

As of my last update in September 2021, the concept of a "virtual university" is not typically included in global university rankings. Traditional university rankings, such as the QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and Academic Ranking of World Universities, focus on evaluating and comparing physical universities and institutions of higher education that have a physical campus and offer various academic programs and courses.

Virtual universities, while providing online education and academic programs, are typically not considered in these rankings. This is because rankings often assess factors such as research output, academic reputation, faculty qualifications, student diversity, and campus facilities, which may not be directly applicable or comparable for virtual universities.

However, it's worth noting that some rankings, such as the QS World University Rankings by Subject, do include online universities and institutions that offer distance learning programs in specific subject areas. These rankings aim to evaluate and compare universities based on their performance in particular academic disciplines or fields of study.

Additionally, there are rankings that specifically focus on online or distance learning institutions. For instance, the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) conducts the annual OLC Online Learning Effectiveness Survey, which provides insights into the effectiveness of online learning programs and services offered by various universities and institutions.

If you're interested in exploring the rankings and reputations of virtual universities, I recommend checking specialized resources, platforms, or publications dedicated to online education and distance learning. These sources can provide more detailed information about the rankings and performance of virtual universities worldwide.
