The Diagnostic Radiology Residency is a five-year program offered through John Peter Smith Hospital. The first year of the program is an intermediary year where residents undergo rotations in several different departments. The remaining four years are devoted to radiological rotations including general diagnostic radiology, musculoskeletal and cardiac radiology, nuclear radiology, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and diagnostic ultrasound. Residents will also choose six and a half months of elective rotations within the program. In addition to residency rotations, the program includes regular seminars, oncology discussions and distance lectures. An application to the program must include medical school transcripts, letters of recommendation, a personal statement and Comprehensive Osteopathic Licensing Examination (COMLEX) transcripts.

The Radiology Residency at The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). The majority of the residency is conducted at the St. James Hospital and Health Centers with short rotations at affiliated hospitals including Children’s Memorial Hospital and the University of Illinois Hospital. Four months of the first year are spent in introductory radiology rotations. The majority of the second year introduces residents to fluoroscopy, computed tomography and ultrasound. The third year includes a rotation in pediatric radiology and a nuclear radiology rotation takes place in the fourth year. Throughout the program, residents must attend regular conferences and grand rounds and must conduct an independent research project. Applications to the program should be submitted through the American Osteopathic Association's National Matching Service.

Botsford Hospital offers a four-year Radiology Residency. Upon completion of this AOA-accredited program graduates are eligible for certification by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiologists (AOBR). Throughout the program residents are introduced to a wide variety of radiological specialties, including neuro-radiology, nuclear radiology and computed tomography. Residents participate in regular instructive modules and become familiar with the skills and techniques involved in teaching radiology by organizing lectures over the course of the program. The AOA's National Matching Service accepts applications for the radiology residency at Botsford Hospital.
