The Top Five Schools for Medical Examiner Training

Becoming a medical examiner is not as simple as acquiring a degree. The requirements and duration of study are extensive. Following undergraduate study---ideally in forensic science---you must obtain a doctoral degree and become a licensed pathologist.

After a few years in medical school, a residency in pathology is the most logical step for aspiring medical examiners. In three to eight years, after passing an American Board of Pathology exam, you can apply for a pathologist's license.

The top five medical examiner training schools are the best institutions for receiving a solid undergraduate degree in forensic science. According to Education Portal, these five are among the best twenty forensic science schools in the U.S. based on program breadth and student population.
