Obtain the highest grades possible in your undergraduate program. The minimum grade point average (GPA) for students accepted to Harvard Law School in 2008 was 3.74, although the college notes that there is no minimum GPA you must have for entry.
Graduate from college. Because Harvard Law is a graduate-level program, you must have obtained your bachelor's degree by August of the year you enter the program. Any degree program will allow you to be eligible for admission to Harvard Law School (a pre-law degree is not necessary).
Take the LSAT. LSAT stands for "Law School Admissions Test." This test provides law schools with a broad overview of your skills in relation to studying law. Although it is not the only requirement for entry to Harvard Law School, a high LSAT score is more attractive to the college. In 2008, the minimum LSAT score for entrants was 170, with most students receiving 176 on average. The college notes that there is no minimum LSAT score you must have for entry.
Compile a resume that lists your professional, academic, and extracurricular activities since high school. This resume will provide the admissions board a brief overview of what you have been involved in and accomplished following your high-school graduation. It must be one to two pages long.
Obtain two letters of recommendation. These letters should be from people who are not related to you and who have had an opportunity to work with and evaluate you. At least one of the letters should focus on your academic dedication and skills. You can submit more than two letters, but you must have a minimum of two.
Submit these materials with your completed application and application fee. Applications are accepted from September 15 through February 1 for the following fall semester (that is, for entry to the school in September 2010, you would send in your application on or after September 15, 2009). The current application fee is $75 (check with the college to make sure the fee has not changed).
