The University of Minnesota is ranked as the 20th best in the country by U.S. News and World Report. Because the University of Minnesota is a public law school, in-state students--students who have lived in the state for two or more years--pay reduced tuition. This makes the school a budget-friendly choice for Minnesota residents. The University of Minnesota has a relatively low student-to-faculty ratio at 12.6 (approximately 12 students for every faculty member) and finds employment for more than 85 percent of graduates.

Third tier means that the school is not in the top 100 in the country, however this does not mean that William Mitchell is not a good school. The university focuses more on practical, hands-on instruction than other law schools, which helps students understand the rigors of legal practice before they graduate. William Mitchell also offers a large number of merit-based scholarships, which allow students to offset their tuition bills.
