In addition to the courses required of all juris doctorate. students at Penn State, aspiring law students can specialize in business law or receive a joint degree with the Smeal College of Business in Business Administration. Students in the business law specialty program will receive training from instructors who specialize in areas such as: antitrust law; bankruptcy and commercial law; corporate law; international trade and corporate law; and taxation. In addition, students have research opportunities at the Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions, the Uniform Commercial Code Institute and at the Agricultural Law Resource and Reference Center.

Located in Philadelphia, the Temple University Beasley School of Law offers specialty law programs in trial advocacy; business and tax law; international law; intellectual property and technology law; and public interest law. In addition, Temple also offers an masters of taxation law degree which requires an additional 24 credit hours including 12 credit hours in corporate taxation; taxation of partnerships and S corporations; estate and gift taxation; and taxation II. This program is open to current law students and must be completed before graduation to qualify for this degree.
