A good grand point average for your undergraduate education is important. Although there is no official eligibility standard, the school only accepts its top applicants. In 2010, the average GPA for admitted students was 3.1.
LSAT scores are used by John Marshall's admission office to compare applicants and determine which ones are most qualified to succeed at the school. Though there are no specific standards, a good score on the LSAT will greatly increase an applicant's chances of gaining acceptance into the school. The average LSAT score for admitted applicants in 2010 ranged from 151 to 155.
Prospective John Marshall Law School students are required to complete and submit a thorough application pertaining to the student's history. The application must include all official transcripts pertaining to previous colleges attended by the student accompanied with documentation for his LSAT test score. Although letters of recommendations are not required, presenting a letter of praise from credible sources enhances a student's qualifications for enrollment. Therefore,, students may include letters of recommendations in their application packet, but the maximum limit for letters is five. Although the subject matter or topic of the personal statement is not specified, the school recommends that the applicants incorporate examples of community involvement, particular talents, leadership abilities and significant achievements. Prospective master's students must, in addition to the personal statement, also provide a writing sample in their application. The writing sample may be a risk assessment paper, a published article or an executive summary documenting a project or decision point.
