The U.S. News and World Report gave its highest rating of 4.7 out of 5 to the University of California, San Francisco's graduate pharmacy program. USCF School of Pharmacy offers PhD programs in biological and medical informatics, biophysics, chemistry and chemical biology, pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacogenomics. There is also a UCSF and University of California, Berkley joint graduate program in bioengineering.
The U.S. News and World Report gave a rating of 4.4 out of 5 to its second best pharmacy graduate program at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. UNC offers a "PharmD" graduate program. The PharmD graduate program is a four-year program that combines six semesters of coursework in the classroom and ten months of clinical-practice experience.
The University of Minnesota ranked third on the U.S. News and World Report pharmacy rankings with a rating of 4.3 out of 5. The University of Minnesota School of Pharmacy offers several graduate programs including an experimental and clinical pharmacology program, a medicinal chemistry graduate program, a social and administrative pharmacy graduate program and a pharmaceutics graduate program.
The University of Texas at Austin ranks fourth on the U.S. News and World Report with a 4.2 out of 5 rating. The University of Texas at Austin offers a PharmD graduate program that splits its focus between lab work and internships requiring students to divide classwork with internships in six- or seven-week rotations. The internship sessions compose of 40 to 50 hours per week and are supervised by practitioner faculty. The curriculum includes classes in biochemistry, human systems, medical chemistry principles, biopharmaceuticals among others.
