Do you need good grades to get into the military?

The military has specific academic and physical requirements for enlisting or commissioning as an officer. While good grades can be beneficial, meeting these requirements is usually more important.

Educational Requirements

* High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

* Minimum scores on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)

Physical Requirements

* Age: 17-35 (some exceptions may apply)

* Height and weight: Must meet certain standards based on age, gender, and service branch

* Vision: Correctible to 20/20

* Hearing: Must be able to hear whispered speech at 5 feet

* Physical fitness: Must be able to pass a physical fitness test

Additionally, each branch of the military may have additional requirements specific to that service. Good grades can help you meet certain criteria, such as qualifying for officer training programs or certain military jobs, but they are not a guarantee of acceptance into the military.
