Schools That Accept the Common App

According to the Common Application website, a group of 15 private colleges banded together in 1975 and developed the first Common Application. Their intent was to create a standardized application for students to use at any member school in hopes of making the college application process easier for both schools and students. According to its website, Common Application membership "is open to colleges and universities that promote access by evaluating students using a holistic selection process."

In 1998, the application became available online. Today there are nearly 400 colleges and universities from all over the United States that accept the Common Application.
