Complete the De Anza College application. This application is available online, or you can pick up an application in person at the Office of Admissions and Records. The application will require your full name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, educational background (e.g., high school diploma) and your intended degree program.
Submit the completed application online or in person at the Admissions and Records office. Once the application is processed, you are issued your student ID number by email or in person by the admissions representative.
Submit official college transcripts to the Admissions and Records office in person or by mail to get credit for previous classwork. If you haven't attended college before, submit any AP exam scores. Only college and AP classes are considered prerequisite and equivalent to classes at De Anza College. De Anza may offer you credit for certain classes on your transcript or clear you from having to take certain assessment tests. See Resources to download the "Prerequisite Clearance Request" form and submit it by mail.
Go to the Student and Community Services Building, Room 143, to take your assessment tests, if required. Those who've earned previous credits and those taking classes for personal enrichment may be exempt from taking these tests. The office is open Monday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointment is required. The office will tell you what assessments you are required to take. You must show a valid state-issued identification card. There is no fee for the assessment tests.
Enroll in orientation. Students who have not yet earned an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, a higher degree or who are taking classes for more than just personal enrichment, must take Orientation to College (Coun 100). This course is 1/2 unit. Check the schedule of classes for the next orientation.
Register for classes. Your enrollment date and information is sent to you via e-mail. View the schedule of classes online and choose your classes.
Pay the fees for the registered classes. The fee varies per number of units for which you are registered. Total fees owed are calculated after you register for classes. You can make payment online with a debit or credit card, send a check or money order in the mail, drop off a check or money order in the drop box at the cashier's office, or pay in person at the cashier's office with a check, money order, debit or credit card or cash. Make checks and money orders payable to "De Anza College."
