Write a college essay that focuses on the best advice anyone ever gave you. Think back on your life and the people who had a serious impact, including friends, family, teachers and other adults. Explain what was going on in your life at that moment to show what warranted the advice. Then, describe why the advice meant something special to you and how it affected your life. For example, a relative might have given you advice on why you should go to college and experience life before settling down with your high school sweetheart.
Describe in detail the biggest risk you have ever taken. Begin the essay by explaining what you life was like at that point and what spurred you to take the risk. Describe what came after you took that step forward and how it changed your life. Colleges are looking for students who are willing to take risks, because going away to college is a risk in itself.
Spend some time thinking about the four years you spent in high school. Make a list of things you wish you had known as a freshman. Then write an essay, giving advice to someone who is just about to enter high school. Write about the major events in your life and explain why you're giving that specific type of advice.
Describe in-depth the greatest or best conversation of your life. Tell in your essay how it changed your life and made you the person you are today. For example, write about a day you spent with a foreign exchange student, a conversation you had with someone from a different background or even the day you finally had a serious conversation about the future with your parents.
