How to Choose a Fashion Marketing Program

You can earn a fashion marketing degree in a traditional, on-campus college, or you can study on your computer from the comfort of you living room couch. Whether you go traditional or online, you'll need to consider a few factors, including accreditation and curriculum.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a format. Formats include online or on-campus fashion marketing programs, or blended programs, which are both online and on campus.

    • 2

Review listings of online schools on Peterson's or Best Art Schools. Visit "U.S. News & World Report" College Rankings to browse through school rankings for 2010.

    • 3

Check the accreditation status of schools you are interested in. This information should be on each school's website, either in the "About" section or in the "FAQs." To ensure the accredited body is nationally recognized, visit the U.S. Department of Education website, and click on "Recognized Accrediting Agencies." If the agency isn't listed there, you have cause for concern.

    • 4

Check the curriculum to verify the school's quality. Not all accredited schools are created equal. A high-quality, accredited fashion marketing program should require completion of basic courses such as English, psychology, mathematics, communications, speech, sociology and composition. It also should also have a selection of relevant fashion courses.

Check each school's career services offerings. Some schools provide better job assistance after graduation than others.
