    • The University of Florida (UF) is the state's top public university. While the university is the most recognizable institution in the state because of its sports programs, it is actually its academic excellence that places the University of Florida in a category of its own among public universities in the state. The University of Florida is nationally recognized as having highly rated programs in a number of different areas such as medicine, pharmacy, law and business. U.S. News and World Report ranked UF as the 47th highest-rated university nationwide. The list of universities also included the likes of Harvard, Yale and Stanford. Founded as East Florida Seminary in 1853, the university is the state's oldest and largest public university. The university consists of 16 different colleges and houses well over 100 research centers and institutes. Additional professional colleges within the university system include the College of Nursing, College of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Dentistry.

    Florida State University

    • Florida State University (FSU) is also one of the most recognizable public universities within the state of Florida. Also known for its athletics and academics, FSU was rated 102nd among all universities nationwide. Florida State is also the home of a number of high quality professional degree programs including those in the areas of law, business, medicine and nursing. Florida State has emerged as a leader in online education, offering a number of its degree programs exclusively online including its AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International) accredited Master of Business Administration. Undergraduate and graduate programs alike are administered through FSU's 15 different colleges that include areas of study such as nursing, social science, the arts and sciences, business, communication and medicine.

    University of Central Florida

    • The University of Central Florida (UCF) was ranked as third-tier institution by U.S. News and World Report. As such, it is Florida's third-highest rated public university. Located in Orlando, Florida UCF is also the home of a number of prominent programs including its business school, which is quickly emerging as a leader among Florida's MBA programs. Undergraduate and graduate degrees are conferred through the university's 13 schools and colleges. Among those are its Rosen College of Hospitality Management and its internationally recognized College of Optics and Photonics. Graduate programs at UCF run the full gamut and include a wide range of programs in the arts and sciences, education and the biomedical sciences.
