    • The University of California Berkeley in Berkeley is the third-best engineering program in the country and the second-best in California, according to "US News & World Report." This program emphasizes math and science studies, as well as humanities and social science courses to prepare students for an interdisciplinary approach to engineering. The university also offers dozen of student societies, which provide students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and gain valuable work experience. Approximately 1,768 students are enrolled in the program.

    • The California Institute of Technology in Pasadena is the seventh-best engineering program in the country and the third best in the state, according to "US News & World Report." Students may choose from a variety of engineering programs, including bioengineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and environmental science engineering. Students are taught a broad range of interdisciplinary concepts, and work hands-on with engineers in the surrounding community. The program has approximately 530 students and the annual tuition is roughly $33,320.
