The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is one of America's foremost universities for engineering. The School of Engineering's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science's began in 1902 and offers three bachelor's degree programs to more than 20% of all undergraduates at MIT. Stanford University's electrical engineering program was founded in 1892 and offers its study options at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department's task is to offer students a fundamental understanding of the field of engineering, constructed around mathematics, computing, technology and physical science. Undergraduates may participate in research opportunities, as well as international options. Stanford's Bing Overseas Studies program offers options in Australia, Beijing, Berlin, and Cape Town, among other international cities, for its students, Engineering majors may partake in the program, as well. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers students the option of earning a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in various disciplines. Undergraduate options are available in computer engineering and electrical engineering. The graduate department, in addition to its general program, offers a joint master of science in electrical and computer engineering and master of business administration. Courses offered through the department include Introduction to Electric and Electronic Circuits, Analog Signal Processing, Biophotonics, and Audio Engineering. Students seeking the doctorate must take the qualifying exam in order to be eligible for future study. This exam may be taken prior to obtaining the master of science degree.
