Create a handout that explains the assignment, how to complete the assignment, and a rubric of how you will grade the assignment. Underline words that you feel are important, such as due dates. Give each student a copy of the handout.
Create a PowerPoint presentation of the assignment and directions. For example, the PowerPoint slides can simplify the research, writing, and citation process.
Explain the directions verbally. When you describe the directions of the assignment, you may include additional details that are not listed in the PowerPoint presentation. However, you can use the PowerPoint presentation as a guide.
Provide the students with examples of the directions. For example, when teaching students how to cite a book source in the MLA format, you can write an example of such a citation on the board.
Allow the students to ask questions about the directions. For example, after you show the students how to cite the book source, another student may ask you how to cite a book source with more than one author.
