The Best Aviation Schools in the World

There is more to aviation than simply getting in a plane and cruising around. There are business matters to consider, as well as loads and loads of math and science. Really, the entire aviation system is formed by a conglomerate of men and women working from all different angles. The best aviation schools know this and create strong programs for people interested in all aspects of the industry, even those who just want to fly.
  1. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

    • According to their website, “major airlines hire more alumni from Embry-Riddle than from any other collegiate aviation program.” While this isn’t something that can be easily backed up, there’s no doubt that Embry-Riddle University is one of the top schools that cater to aviation and aeronautics. They offer associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in more than 35 disciplines, such as

aviation maintenance, aviation business administration, engineering physics (relating specifically to aircraft), and air traffic management. Classes are taught on one of their two traditional campuses (Daytona Beach and Prescott) or in satellite campuses across the world (including Canada, Europe, and the Middle East).

    Spartan College of Aeronautics

    • The Spartan College of Aeronautics is an exceptionally focused school that operates very much like any liberal arts college or university. Four programs are offered at the associate and accelerated bachelors levels: pilot, aviation mechanics, avionics and quality control. Students can enjoy a variety of on-campus activities and clubs, make use of the well-stocked library, and even have a shot at one of the limited student housing rooms just behind the main building. All graduates can make use of employment services, an important part of the college that will help point students toward who is hiring in their field of study.

    Aeronautical Academy of Europe

    • The Aeronautical Academy of Europe focuses entirely on piloting and offers every certification one might need to climb the ranks in any high-flying profession. It typically starts with obtaining a private pilot license, which anyone can do. After that, the school offers instrument rating courses as well as licensure in airline transport, commercial pilot, single engine and multi-crew operation. Students will have the opportunity to train in one of three aircraft: A 12 Socata TB-200 GT Tobago, 7 Socata TB-20 GT Trinidad and/or 2 Piper PA-34 Seneca V. Four simulators are also available and small classrooms are used to teach aviation theory elements.
