Dieticians' & Nutritionists' College Degrees

Dietitians and nutritionists plan meals and nutrition programs. They make recommendations as to dietary modifications that aid in the prevention and treatment of illnesses. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for nutritionists and dietitians is expected to increase by nine percent between 2008 and 2018 Forty-six states regulate dietitians and nutritionists. 33 states require licensure and 12 states require certification. Licensure requires a Bachelor's degree. Graduate degrees are also available.

Graduates of both the Bachelor's and the Master's degree program are eligible to sit for the "Registration Examination for Dietitians". Four units of religious study are required for both programs.     University of Wisconsin

    • Small classes make faculty at Stout accessible. The student-to-faculty ratio in the dietetic program is 21:1.

      On the Stout campus of the University of Wisconsin (UW), the university offers a four-year Bachelor's of science degree in dietetics. UW requires students enrolled in the dietetics program to complete 320 hours of “field” or work experience in dietetics. Students are responsible for the costs related to the field experience, including transportation costs, lab coats, indemnity insurance and incidentals. The purpose of the field experience requirement is to give graduating students from UW an advantage over other applicants when competing for their first entry-level job or an internship in the field of dietetics.

      Radford University offers a Bachelor's of science degree program in nutrition and dietetics. After finishing a dietetic internship, graduates are eligible to sit for the registration exam. Radford offers an honors program in nutrition and dietetics. Requirements of graduating from the honors program include students maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 and complete a minimum of 27 credit-hours in honors coursework.
