With locations in Tampa and Orlando, the Ultrasound Technologist Training program at Central Florida Institute teaches students how to take and record patient histories, use an ultrasound to provide diagnostic data to a physician and analyze the ultrasound findings. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, and students who complete the program are trained in specialized areas such as abdominal sonography, neurosonography and obstetric-gynecological sonography. Upon completion, students receive an associate of applied science degree.

The Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound program at Dade Medical Institute in Miami focuses on teaching students to identify organs and systems, including the reproductive system. Students also learn to use appropriate imaging techniques for different medical situations. After students complete the associate's degree program and finish one year of field experience, they can take the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers exam. Passing the exam allows students to register in their preferred ultrasound field, such as radiology, obstetrics and gynecology or in a hospital setting.
