10 Best Schools for Hispanics

As college can be a difficult period for any student, ensuring that it is "culturally-friendly" is one of the keys to any minority student. One of the largest minority groups within the U.S. are Hispanics, which make up nearly 50 million people according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Rankings of top Universities and Colleges---as by Hispanic Magazine---measure many aspects, including the number of cultural centers, Hispanic graduation rates, acceptance rates, and even the number of Hispanic faculty.
  1. Princeton, Harvard, and Amherst

    • Topping the top 25 list of "Hispanic-friendly" schools---according to Hispanic Magazine---are schools that are no stranger to being on top. Ranked in order one, two, and three, Princeton, Harvard, and Amherst are considered extremely beneficial for the Hispanic population. Princeton has many cultural centers, as well as access to nearby New York City and Philadelphia, which are considered to be "culturally-engaging" cities. Harvard has networks of libraries that even include a collection of works from Latin American writers. Amherst features several student organizations dedicated to Hispanics and Latinos.

    Yale, Swarthmore, and Stanford

    • MIT is known as the world's top technical school; however, it is also host to cultural organizations, salsa and tango clubs, as well as its very own mariachi band. Pomona is one of the top-ranked schools in the country that is also extremely friendly when it comes to giving scholarships. The school has many subjects to study---including over 44 majors and 600 classes.

      Columbia is a school that has many opportunities for advancing students, including offerings of over 5,000 internships as of 2010. It also has many international programs. The University of Chicago houses many cultural friendly groups and offers a great opportunity for learning as over 70 Nobel Prize winners---as well as 6 Pulitzer Prize winning authors---are on the faculty.
