The University of Maryland, Baltimore County, often referred to as UMBC, offers a graduate-level program in applied behavior analysis in its Psychology Department. The program consists of 36 total units, composed of core classes, electives and on-site training courses. Classes required of all students include learning and cognition, methods in applied behavior analysis and social bases of behavior. Students get hands-on training at the Kennedy Krieger Institute or another approved site for a total of 4 units; training includes the creation and implementation of a treatment intervention plan.

The University of Rhode Island, founded in 1942, offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Providence. The school also offers certificate programs, among them one in applied behavioral psychology. The five-course program is a total of 15 credits, with topics of study that include developmental psychology, practicum in behavioral psychology and applied behavioral analysis. Students must maintain a "C" average to successfully complete the program, and may transfer up to two classes from another relevant program.

The University of California-Irvine has a Department of Psychology and Social Behavior that offers bachelor- and doctorate-level programs. The undergraduate program includes three lower division courses in basic psychology, as well as 24 units in areas that include social, personality and environmental psychology; developmental psychology, and health psychology. The doctorate program leads to a Ph.D., and emphasizes theory, research methods and classic issues of concentration areas. Students can select from among five concentrations, including social/personality psychology and psychopathology/behavioral disorders.
