The Policing and Criminal Justice Program at Brock University and Niagara College combines education with applied training and skills in the criminal justice field. Students can major in communication studies, geography, political science, psychology or sociology. This four-year program leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in the student's chosen major and a diploma in Police Foundations from Niagara College.
For admission to the Policing and Criminal Justice Program, students must have at least a 70-percent average and eight credits or less, with four of these credits earned at Brock University. Students typically enter the program after completion of the first year of studies in their chosen major (communication studies, psychology, sociology, geography or political science). For these majors, students must complete six 12U or M (college or university) courses, including 12U English. It is also strongly suggested that students complete math of data management if majoring in psychology.
Students must take courses that apply to their major during the four-year program at Brock University and Niagara College. Courses taken to complete the Police Foundations Accelerated Program during the third year include criminal and civil law, provincial offenses, fitness/lifestyle management, and interviewing and investigations.
