How to Cite With MLA From an Annual Business Report

The Modern Language Association publishes the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, a style guide commonly used in academic writing. This text describes citation style for a wide variety of sources, from conventional books and periodicals to websites, interviews and other sources of information. Citations of business reports are treated very similarly to books, although no individual authors are included in the citation: the company issuing the report is listed as the author.

Instructions

    • 1

List the name of the company issuing the report, followed by a period. Use this fictitious company for an example: Ace Writing Services.

    • 2

Enter the title of the report in italics, followed by a period. If you do not have an italic font, use underline instead: Ace Writing Services. _2010 Annual Report_.

    • 3

List the place of publication in this format: city, state (abbreviation), followed by a colon: Ace Writing Services. _2010 Annual Report_. Miami, FL: List the publisher as the company, even if the report was printed by a copy service.

    • 4

List the date of the publication (year), followed by a period, and then the format of the publication, such as "print." The entire citation should look like this:

Ace Writing Services. _2010 Annual Report_. Miami, FL: Ace Writing Services, 2010. Print.
