Yale University's Department of the History of Art offers an undergraduate program with a wide range of subjects. Students can study art from Europe, Asia and Africa as well as prehistoric art from cave dwellings. Students are encouraged to study a foreign language and must write a senior essay in order to graduate.
According to its website, the Southern Connecticut State University's campus is the only one in the Connecticut State University system that offers an art history degree. Courses in the program include art theory, traditions and cultural traditions such as Western art, women and art, modern art, Chinese art and Japanese prints. In order to graduate with a bachelor of arts (B.A.) degree in art history, a student must study a foreign language.
The University of New Haven does not have a separate B.A. degree program in art history. Its B.A. in art concentrates on actual artist development through studio classes and a co-op program. Coursework includes relevant aspects of art history, such as printmaking and silkscreen, but does not focus specifically on art history.
Quinnipiac University offers a minor in fine arts with an art history track rather than a degree in art history. Undergraduates who select this option must complete studio time in order to graduate.
