How to Get an Undergraduate Library Degree in Pennsylvania

Library science is a changing field in a modern world filled with Internet access. Librarians have become more trained and more specialized to meet current demands. One way to prepare for the challenge is to complete a library science degree program at an accredited Pennsylvania college or university. According to a 2008 survey conducted by the American Library Association, librarians have a mean salary of $58,960 with some librarians making up to $331,200 a year. Most library jobs require a graduate degree in library science.

      Compare the library science degrees at Clarion University and Kutztown University to decide which program best suits your needs. Consider location, tuition costs, coursework and graduate degree programs when choosing a program.

      Read the entrance requirements for the colleges or universities in Pennsylvania. The college may require certain SAT scores, letters of recommendations from teachers, and an entrance essay. Gather all necessary items, fill out the application and submit everything to the college before the stated deadlines for application. Kutztown University requires completion of a teacher certification program for entrance into the library science program.
