The largest and most well-known college in Fort Collins is Colorado State University. The school has been recognized for its veterinary medicine program, research and green initiatives. Undergraduate and graduate students can choose from 150 programs in eight colleges including Agricultural Sciences, Applied Human Sciences, Business, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Natural Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and Natural Resources.
Outside of the classroom, CSU offers a variety of housing options including residence halls and apartment style living as well as 357 student organizations that include fraternities, sororities, service clubs and intramural sports. The University Arts Center welcomes dance, music and theater productions from around the world while Hughes Stadium and the Moby Arena are host to CSU's football, basketball and volleyball teams.
Front Range Community College (FRCC) has three campuses including one located in southwest Fort Collins. In 2011, Colorado students paid less than $100 a credit hour for tuition and can choose from variety of associate degree and certificate programs. At its Fort Collins campus, FRCC offers programs in Russian, journalism, computer science, chemistry, nursing and welding, just to name a few. The school also maintains a strong relationship with area businesses in industries such as health care to help students gain hands on career training.
McKinley College is an online school located in Fort Collins. Students can earn associate's degrees in business and health services as well as specialized degrees such as human resources, entrepreneurship, fashion merchandising and e-commerce without ever leaving the house. Established in 2005, McKinley's programs can be completed in as little as 16 months with students taking more than five classes a year. Tuition at the college is all inclusive and, in 2011, ranges from $100 to $135 a credit hour depending on the program.
The Institute of Business and Medical Careers (IBMC) has multiple campuses in Colorado and Wyoming including one in Fort Collins. The college is designed for students looking for career training and provides diploma, degree and certificate programs. Students can choose among administrative assistant, business administration and accounting, medical assistant, pharmacy technology, medical coding and billing, paralegal and therapeutic massage programs. Class sizes at IBMC are small with 10 to 15 students each.
