The academic program leads to the degree of master of science in flight test engineering or master of science in flight test and evaluation, depending on the student's undergraduate education. The professional course is 50 weeks long and has two phases, the performance and flying qualities phase, and the systems phase. All engineers must have a bachelor's degree in math, science or engineering. They also have to be medically qualified to perform flight duties. There are 16 different modules included in the course. The Airline Transport Professionals offers a one-day flight engineer written prep and exam program. It prepares you for your flight engineer written exam. You can study through a computerized software program. You will get only those questions that apply to your test. The exam takes around one and half hour, but can be prolonged if needed. ATP offers this program at 22 flight training centers. Only students who obtain an ATP or commercial pilot certificate can attend this course.
