Place your incubator where it will receive as little temperature fluctuation as possible, out of direct sunlight. Connect your incubator to a reliable power source from which it cannot be easily detached.
Set the thermostat to 99 degrees Fahrenheit and maintain the humidity level at 60 percent. You can adjust the humidity level by adjusting the vents, to allow more or less air to enter or leave the incubator, or you can adjust the amount of water in the water pan of the incubator. The more water that evaporates, the more humid your incubator will be.
Lay the eggs in the incubating tray with their pointed end tipped downward. Turn the eggs over, turning them 180 degrees, twice a day. Watch the eggs for signs of development, such as dark areas or visible lines, which are signs of developing veins.
Remove any eggs that have not shown development from the incubator after 10 days to avoid their causing other eggs to spoil. Dispose of the eggs your remove.
Move fertile eggs, after incubating for 26 days, to a hatcher, where they will hatch within two to three days. The hatcher temperature should be similar to that of the incubator, but it should be slightly more humid, perhaps through additional quantities of evaporating water. Do not turn the eggs over while they are in the hatcher. Leaving them in the same position allows them to orient themselves.
Allow chicks, after hatching, to stay in the hatcher for the next day and a half until they can stand on their own.
