How to Write the Findings of a Research Paper

Research papers summarize the literature and facts regarding a particular issue. The writer of a research paper synthesizes the various methods and conclusions of the resources upon which he has drawn and contributes his own conclusions to the academic discussion of the issue being examined. Research writers customarily write abstracts of their own papers that briefly detail the issue, methods and findings found in the paper.

Instructions

    • 1

Introduce the topic of the research paper. Describe the issue, problem or question that the paper aims to address. Give the reader a reason that the paper is a significant contribution.

    • 2

Illustrate the methodology the writer uses to address the central topic of the paper. Scientific research papers might describe what sort of experiments the writer used to test various variables. Humanities papers could summarize the critical discussion of the issue currently available.

    • 3

Share the results of any experiments or tests described in the research paper. Use concrete details whenever available. Avoid vague or relative terms such as "very" or "slightly".

    • 4

Tell the reader the significance of those results. Provide the implications and scope of the research paper's findings.
