How to Convert RAD to MSV

Most people today are petrified at the thought of radiation. But what we forget or don't know is that we are exposed to radiation all the time in our daily lives. There are two measurement systems used to measure radiation. In the Standard International Units system, when you are exposed to a milligray (mGy) of radiation, the effect is a millisievert (mSv). In the Historical System of Dosimetry, when you are exposed to a roentgen (R), the result is a radiation-absorbed dose (RAD), which is equal to a roentgen-equivalent (in) man (REM). Ten mSvs are equal to one REM, and one REM is equal to one RAD.

Instructions

    • 1

Identify the number of RADs that you want to convert to mSvs.

    • 2

Multiply the number of RADs by 1 to convert to REM.

    • 3

Divide the number of REMs by 10 to convert to mSv.
