Different Fraternity Events

In college, fraternities can be an excellent way to gain a group of close friends. Fraternity members often live together, meet at least once a week, and plan and throw social events together. These social events truly can bring the fraternity together, both through thought and fun. Plan carefully, be creative, and always be safe!
  1. Academic Achievement Dinner

    • Fraternities often get a bad rap on campus for endorsing alcohol-drenched carousing over academic achievement. Defy the stereotype by rewarding the brothers who have managed to combine Greek life with high grades. Decide upon what constitutes a high GPA (generally, this will be a 3.5 or higher) and invite all of the brothers who earned this GPA to a catered dinner at a nice restaurant or hotel. Such a dinner will inspire the other members of the fraternity to work harder in school!

    Casino Night

    • If gambling with play money is legal on your campus, throw a casino night. Casino nights are elaborate, will indulge those who love to gamble, and are great events to invite girls to. Organize tables among different casino games, such as poker and backgammon, put up some classy decorations, and invite both guys and girls, stipulating that they must come dressed in black ties and cocktail gowns. Allow guests to exchange play money for other treats, such as gift certificates or invitations to the hottest party on campus. A well-attended casino night is a night to remember.

    Parents Night

    • What better way to bond with the brotherhood than to meet the parents or entire families of the other men in the fraternity. Organize a catered dinner, or ask the parents to each bring a dish or drink to your house. Alternatively, take up a collection among the brothers and/or parents, to finance a nice dinner with the parents and/or select family members.

    Mr. Fraternity

    • Women frequently have the opportunity to perform in beauty pageants, but men tend to be overlooked. Change that by having a fraternity beauty pageant named after your school. For instance, a fraternity at Harvard might throw a competition for Mr. Harvard. Allow the men participating to model formal wear and bathing suits, and to perform a talent. As well, have them explain to the audience why they should be Mr. Harvard. The competition promises to be entertaining at any school!
