Visit the Jacksonville State University website. Click on "Admissions" and then "Applications and Forms." There, you will have access to the form titled, "Residency Reclassification Petition." It outlines the requirements for receiving the in-state tuition rate as an undergraduate student.
Read the list of 14 different ways of proving residency. You will need to provide photocopies for each of the 14 criteria that you check. For example, if you are a member of the United States military on full-time active duty stationed in Alabama, you might qualify for in-state tuition and you will need to provide a letter from a commanding officer on military letterhead. Another way of getting the in-state tuition rate is to be employed full-time in Alabama. A letter from your employer will be required for proof.
Fill out the Residency Reclassification Petition and submit it with the required documents to the registrar's office. Forms and documents must be received by the registrar's office on or before the business day prior to the beginning of classes of the semester or term for which residency status is being sought.
