How to Request Scholarship Money From a Corporation

Many corporations, including Walmart, Coca-Cola, AT&T and ExxonMobil, offer scholarships. Scholarships are offered at the graduate level to individuals companies believe would be good employees, as well as to individuals with an interest in pursuing a career in the industry in which the corporation operates. However, some corporations also offer more general scholarships to undergraduate students. After you have identified the corporations that offer scholarships for which you are eligible, begin the application process for each of them.

Instructions

  1. Established Scholarships

    • 1

Read the application guidelines thoroughly. The smallest missed detail could mean the difference between getting the scholarship and having your application thrown in the trash.

    • 2

Request an application from the corporation. Applications may be available to download on the corporation's scholarship website, or you may need to contact the scholarship staff directly to have one sent to you.

    • 3

Fill out the scholarship's application, providing all of the information the application requests. If you have a question, contact the scholarship representative to clarify before you submit the application. Write any requested essay or personal statement for the essay as well, being careful to convey a sense of positivity and hope in your essay.

    • 4

Gather any transcripts and letters of recommendation needed for the scholarship. Give your references plenty of time to write the letter, to avoid missing the scholarship deadline.

    • 5

Assemble your application packet, going over it one last time to make sure you have provided all of the required information and that it contains no mistakes. Send it to the corporation's scholarship committee before the deadline.

    Petitioning for a Scholarship

    • 6

Maintain a very high grade point average. A high GPA in your area of study will help your case when you ask a corporation for a scholarship.

    • 7

Find corporations in your field that do not currently offer scholarship opportunities.

    • 8

Send a letter of petition to the corporation outlining your skills, background, your desire to work for the company and stating that you would like to work for the company for a set period of time after you graduate. You will need to convince the corporation of numerous factors, including your maturity, ability to be a very valuable employee, your sincere desire to work for the company and the seriousness of your commitment to work for it.
