When did the ebook come out?

The earliest known e-book was created by American computer scientist Michael S. Hart in 1971. Hart was a student at the University of Illinois, and used an unused Xerox Sigma V mainframe computer to create a digital version of the United States Declaration of Independence. He then distributed it over the ARPANET, the precursor to the modern internet.
