"Squeaky was in his cage this morning!" Mr. Grumbles exclaimed, his face red with worry. "But now he's gone! I looked everywhere!"
Maya, armed with her magnifying glass and detective's notebook, began her investigation. First, she checked Squeaky's cage. There were tiny footprints near the water bottle, leading towards a small hole in the corner. Maya followed the tracks to the back of Mr. Grumbles' garden.
She found a trail of sunflower seeds, Squeaky's favorite treat. The trail led her to a small, abandoned shed. Peeking inside, she saw Squeaky, happily munching on a sunflower seed, nestled in a cozy corner.
"Aha!" Maya exclaimed. "I think I've found Squeaky's hiding place!"
Mr. Grumbles, relieved, rushed to the shed and scooped up Squeaky, who squeaked happily. "Thank you, Maya!" Mr. Grumbles said, giving her a grateful hug. "You're the best detective I know!"
From that day on, Maya was known as the "Hamster Detective," and her reputation for solving mysteries spread throughout the neighborhood.
