Barbara Cartland was an extremely prolific author, having published over 722 novels in her lifetime. Many of her books achieved commercial success, but few of them were recognized with major literary awards. However, it's worth noting that Cartland's contribution to the romance genre was widely acknowledged, and her popularity earned her a special recognition in 1991, when she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
