What do Nobel peace prize winners receive?

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes established by the will of Alfred Nobel in 1895. It is awarded annually to those individuals or organizations that have done the most to promote fraternity between nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the establishment and promotion of peace congresses.

The Nobel Peace Prize consists of a gold medal, a diploma and a monetary award. The monetary award is currently set at 10 million Swedish kronor (approximately US$1.1 million).

In addition to the gold medal, the diploma and the monetary award, Nobel Peace Prize laureates are also invited to give a lecture on the topic of their work. The lecture is usually given in Oslo, Norway, on the day of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.
