The Bessemer Gold Medal is the highest award given by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) in the United Kingdom. It is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of metallurgy. The award was established in 1871 in honor of Sir Henry Bessemer, a British metallurgist who invented the Bessemer process for making steel.
