- A hairdryer
- A butter knife or other thin, flat object
- A piece of cloth
- A bowl of warm water
- A mild detergent
1. Heat the glue with a hairdryer. Hold the hairdryer about 6 inches away from the glue and turn it on to the lowest setting. Move the hairdryer back and forth over the glue until it starts to soften and melt.
2. Gently scrape the glue away with a butter knife or other thin, flat object. Be careful not to damage the paper of the book.
3. Dab the glue with a cloth dampened with warm water and mild detergent. This will help to remove any remaining glue residue.
4. Let the book air dry completely. Before closing the book, make sure that the glue is completely dry.

- If the glue is very old and stubborn, you may need to apply a glue remover. Be sure to test the glue remover on a small area of the book before using it on the entire surface.
