In the book of mice and men Why does crooks enter bunkhouse?

Crooks does not enter the bunkhouse in the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. As an African-American man, Crooks is segregated from the other ranch workers and lives in a separate room in the barn. He is not allowed to enter the bunkhouse where the white workers sleep and socialize.
