Required SAT scores to become a psychiatrist?

There's no single SAT score requirement to become a psychiatrist. Becoming a psychiatrist requires a long and demanding educational path:

1. Undergraduate Education: You need a bachelor's degree, typically with a strong foundation in science (biology, chemistry, psychology). While there's no specific SAT score requirement for college admission, a high SAT score significantly improves your chances of getting into a competitive undergraduate program that will prepare you for medical school.

2. Medical School (MD or DO): After completing your bachelor's degree, you apply to medical school. Medical schools are extremely competitive, and a strong academic record (including a high GPA and MCAT score) is crucial for admission. The MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) is far more important than the SAT at this stage.

3. Psychiatry Residency: After medical school, you must complete a four-year residency in psychiatry. Your performance in medical school will determine your competitiveness for a residency position.

Therefore, while a high SAT score can help you get into a strong undergraduate program which will in turn improve your chances of getting into medical school and eventually a psychiatry residency, there's no direct SAT score cutoff. Focus on achieving high grades in challenging science courses and a competitive MCAT score.
