Purchase or borrow an up-to-date NCLEX prep guide. Often, you can swap with a friend when you are done. There are also many resources for free practice tests online. Take as many of these as you can to expose yourself to the style and format of the NCLEX exam. This will also help you pinpoint your weaknesses, so you can concentrate on improving those areas. Bottom line: the more exposure you have to NCLEX questions, the more comfortable you will be on test day.
Many NCLEX questions are about priority: What do you do first? You can correctly answer all of these questions by remembering the basics. Remember: assess, plan, implement and evaluate. Never forget the ABCs: Airway, circulation and breathing. Also, you will need to recall Maslow's hierarchy of needs. These are three concepts you need to know well to pass the NCLEX.
Get plenty of sleep the night before. You may want to go out to eat and enjoy a movie. Just relax and try not to worry about the exam. When the big day arrives, stay calm. Eat breakfast and arrive early. This is not the time to study. You have spent years learning to be a nurse and put in plenty of study time. You are prepared and will pass.
